I usually broadcast weekly guidance over on my YouTube channel, but this week is a little different. Some health issues mean I'm stuck in bed, and in no shape to get in front of the camera! So we'll do things a bit differently this week.
Here's your group reading, based off of this spread I designed.
What we're called to surrender: The Devil.
First of all. Stop. Torturing. Yourself. Seriously. Stop telling yourself you're done sneaking candy from the stash in the cabinet. Then sneaking it anyway. Then feeling bad that you did it. Things are only the end of the world if you say they are, and if you stop trying.
Whatever progress you feel like you should be making right now, and haven't, give up the should. Give up your deadline. Give up berating yourself for the way things are. It's much too late for that, and it only keeps you right where you are...feeling bad.
Repeat after me: I surrender perfection. I surrender the judgment. I surrender the race. I surrender the addiction. I surrender the frustration. I surrender the pain.
When I feel at my lowest, I go on surrendering sprees. I surrender this, I surrender that, I breathe, and I can't tell you just how much space opens up after deciding that you're giving everything up. It's incredible.
What we're called to seize: Ace of Pentacles.
On pulling this card, I immediately heard a line from a song by the Eels: "Words can't be that strong / My heart is reeling / This is that fresh / That fresh feeling" - you can listen to the whole song here if you're called to. I highly recommend it.
This week, grab on to whatever gives you that breath of fresh air. You could hold on to the anchor that's slowing you down, or you could drop it and instead hold on to that one song that makes your feet feel lighter. Or that good news that brightened up your day. Or that sanctuary you call home. Whatever you carry around with you this week, make sure it's light. Make sure it's pleasing to you. Make sure it feels fresh.
What we're called to sustain: Ten of Cups
Look, I know things have been bad this year. I know things have been bad these last few months. I know that 2016 is not going down without getting in a few more painful jabs. However, there has been good that came of all this. Some of these shakeups have already brought unexpected and happy outcomes. Also, there are new hopes, dreams, goals, and plans we've made in the wake of these cosmological and sometimes literal disasters.
Don't let the fire die. If there's a desire in you for something, then that means it is possible to achieve/obtain/discover/experience. There's some universal law that backs that up, I'm pretty sure. Regardless, it feels good. Sustain your hopes and dreams. I know how tempting it is to consider throwing in the towel. But please, don't do it. Do something, anything, to protect your fire from the winter winds.
Suggestions: Visualize, fantasize, make an in-advance gratitude list, take one small step, or share your dream with someone who supports you. When you speak from the heart, when you are really honest about what you want, you'll see the recognition in another's face, that moment where they too believe in your dream.
Chin up. And remember: Surrender, Seize, Sustain. It's time to break through.
