Someone approached me with the concern: “I wasn’t sure if I was working with Spirits, or if possibly I was just crazy?”
Look, I know what it’s like to feel that you’re going crazy. When you’re diving into this kind of work, especially for the first time, you encounter things that take a while to integrate into your life. The thing is, even if you’ve been doing it for a while, working with Spirits can still be exciting, surprising, strange, and a little disorienting.
So no matter where you are on the spectrum, whether you’re just beginning, or up to your eyeballs, this post is for you. Here are my recommendations to help combat that going-crazy feeling that you get.
1. Find a community or a friend so you can share your experiences.
If you experience something and you’re not sure if you’re making it up, chances are that lots of other people have also experienced it. The best way to find out is to find a nice community where you can ask other people to see if they know what you’re talking about, and how they handle it. There are great Facebook communities and websites where you can look for online support, but don't forget to research what's available to you in your local neighborhood.
2. Validation helps.
Keep a journal. Had a prophetic dream? Got a weird feeling on the drive home? Think something’s going to happen? Write it down. Then, when it happens, or your intuitive hit was correct in some way, you can record that. Whenever you feel like reality is coming a bit unhinged, look back on your journal. It will be a nice reminder that you’re not crazy. Memory has a way of distorting things, that’s why it’s important to write it all down.
If you’re working with your guides, you should be familiar with asking them for help. Ask them to send you a sign! Ask them to validate something. Here is a great post on the intricacies of asking for signs.
3. Take a break! Disconnect!
We’re all human beings, here on Earth right now to have a (mostly) human experience. If the Spirit world has you feeling a bit claustrophobic, then take a break. Go on a Netflix binge, consciously shut-down your abilities, and do something that makes you feel grounded. When you’re feeling more on the level, then dive back in. The Spirit world, and those in it, aren’t going anywhere in the meantime.
By the way, using someone as a sounding board, getting validation, and hearing from your guides can also be done by booking an appointment with an experienced medium that you trust. Not sure if what you’re doing is genuine, or imaginary? Call in an expert, and ask them to talk to your guides and get the scoop.
