I want to talk a little bit about the connection between spiritual health, and physical health. There are times when a cold is just a cold, and then there are times when a bizarre ailment that appears out of the blue is not really that bizarre...in fact, it's kind of funny. Or it would be if you weren't in so much pain.
Before I go any further: ALWAYS TAKE THE NECESSARY AND APPROPRIATE PRECAUTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH. Go see a doctor if you can, and if you want to. Take care of yourself. Energy healing and everything that goes along with that is meant to be a supportive element in your recovery. Now then...
Pictured above is some blue jello. Better known to the sick and bedridden as ambrosia. That's about all I could stomach during one particularly awful health event. I'm no stranger to spiritual issues manifesting in physically devastating ways. Looking back on the big ones - walking pneumonia, an abscess, certain bouts of the flu - I can clearly see the mental/emotional/spiritual stress that had a hand in them.
To echo a sentiment that's essential to my beliefs and work: We are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. When our physical bodies show the wear and tear, sometimes (not always) this is a symptom of energetic events.
So next time you get the flu on your birthday (and it's the tenth year in a row that has happened oh-my-god-what-is-going-on) - stop...drink more fluids, make an appointment with the doctor if you need to, eat well, get lots of rest - and think about what's going on around your birthday that manifests as this icky health event. Are you holding on to some negative experience? Is there repetition of an unhealthy relationship around that time?
Patterns are important. You may have realized that we seem to be doomed to repeat certain events until we learn from them. The same goes for certain ailments. If you suspect that a yearly flu on New Years Eve may be more than coincidental, give yourself a little interrogation.
- What happens as a result of this ailment? (Who has to take care of you? What do they do?)
- What's so important about this time of the year? (Memories, traumatic events, etc.)
- What's the significance of these symptoms? Do they mimic (or mock) something about my life/relationships/emotions? For example, laryngitis - losing your voice can be very symbolic.
- What do I hate most about this illness?
- What can't I do as a result of this issue?
- Is this something that I've done to myself? What did I do to contribute to this problem?
If all the answers seem to point to a common cause, and if you feel that there's some resonance there, then you can begin to come to terms with the fact that cold pills will help, but they're not the ultimate cure. So once you've identified that there's an energetic or spiritual issue at the root of a malady...then what?
